We do not sell goats for meat. Our goats are pets, breeding or potential show stock only.
Requirements of you:
If interested in purchasing one of our goats or making a reservation for a planned kidding, please fill out our Interest Form
Terms
Prices are NON-NEGOTIABLE, so please do not insult Dread Pirate Farms or our animals by haggling over our prices.
Feel free to contact Dread Pirate Farms, herein referred to as "DPFs", if you would like to make a reservation. DPFs does not require a deposit to make a reservation. Once kids are born, we will notify you of the kidding results. You will have a week to contact us and decide if you want to purchase the kid that you reserved. At that time, a non-refundable $50 deposit to hold the kid (which will be applied to the kid’s purchase price) along with any applicable fees will be required. Babies that are disbudded are done by a vet under anesthesia between a few days and 2 weeks old. Doelings will be weaned and can be picked up at 10-12 weeks of age, bucklings will be available at 12 weeks. If you are unable to arrange transport or pick-up by weaning and if no arrangements have been agreed upon, we reserve the right to retain your deposit and re-list the goat as available for sale.
Wethers: a nonrefundable $50 deposit will hold the goat. Bucklings will be castrated at 12 weeks. This is advantageous to doing it sooner so the buckling's urethra can develop and will lower the risk of Urinary Caliculi. A discount will be given to goats intended for: 4H projects, therapy or service goats.
Adult goats: a nonrefundable deposit of half the purchase price will hold the goat. The goat must be picked up within 14 days, unless other arrangements with us have been made. After this time, boarding rates of $2/day will apply. If you are unable to arrange transport or pick-up after an additional 14 days and no other arrangements have been agreed upon, we reserve the right to retain your deposit and re-list the goat as available for sale.
DPFs reserves the right to retain any goat or refuse a sale at any time, for any reason, after which your deposit will be refunded. Should DPFs decide to retain an animal that you have put a deposit on, you have the option of choosing another animal (if available) or your deposit will be refunded.
Goats must be paid in full before they can leave our farm. This includes the purchase cost, boarding and transport fees, health certificates and any tests that you request. We will only accept checks if they have cleared before picking up your goat. **Note - I do not get good reception where I live therefore the remainder of payment due for the goat may not be able to be made online while you are here. You'll have to travel about 10 minutes down the road, so cash is preferable.
You are responsible for picking up, arranging, or paying for necessary transport for any and all goats. If you request for us to meet you or transport the goat to you, transport fees will apply and must be paid for prior to the transport date.
All of our goats are sound and healthy. If a goat is not yet registered, new owners can choose a name that must be pirate themed and approved. After notification of name choice registrations will be sent electronically via ADGA. For registrations your ADGA member number will be needed or if not a member - your address.
Please note: DPFs are under no obligation to buy back any goat once it leaves our farm. Transporting a goat and putting it with other animals adds stress and a chance for the goat to acquire diseases/worms/pathogens etc. therefore we cannot and will not guarantee a goat's health once it is in your care.
